Dog Clicker & Whistle Training Support

Last updated: 21 September 2026

Need help with Dog Clicker & Whistle Training? Email us at info@sedo-studio.com. We aim to reply within two working days.

My dog isn't reacting to the clicker.

That's normal at the start, and it isn't a fault with the app.

A click means nothing to a dog until it has been paired with food, many times, over several days. Trainers call this "charging" the marker. Until that's done, the sound is just a noise.

That is exactly what the 14-day programme in the app is for. Day 1 is nothing but click, then treat, over and over. The first three days are free, so you can work through the foundation before deciding whether to pay for anything.

If you'd rather not follow the programme, the short version is: click once, then give a treat within about a second, every single time, for a few minutes a day. The click has to predict the food, or it predicts nothing.

I can't hear the whistle.

Above roughly 15 kHz most adults hear nothing at all, and the higher you go the fewer people can. That's your ears, not the app.

The coloured bar under the slider tells you what your phone is actually doing at that frequency:

  • Green (about 1-12 kHz): your phone produces this cleanly.
  • Amber (about 12-16 kHz): output starts dropping off.
  • Red (above about 16 kHz): a phone speaker produces very little here. The number on screen is honest about that rather than pretending otherwise.

If you want a tone you can hear too, use the 4 kHz preset. If you want one most adults can't hear, use 14 kHz.

There's no sound at all.

Work through these in order:

  1. Turn the volume up with the physical buttons while the app is open.
  2. Check your phone isn't connected to something else — AirPods, a car, a speaker. The sound will be going there.
  3. If you're on the whistle, check the frequency. In the red band there is genuinely very little to hear.
  4. Close the app fully (swipe it away from the app switcher) and reopen it.
  5. Restart the phone.

The silent switch should not matter — the app is set up to play with the ringer off. If you have sound everywhere else but not here, email us and tell us which iPhone you have.

The phone doesn't vibrate when I click.

Check three things:

  1. On the clicker screen in the app, scroll down and make sure "Vibrate on click" is switched on.
  2. In the iPhone's Settings app, go to Sounds & Haptics and set System Haptics to on.
  3. Turn Low Power Mode off. It switches most vibration off across the whole phone.

If all three are right and there's still nothing, email us — that one we want to hear about.

Is the whistle safe for my dog?

Dogs hear a good deal higher than people do, so a tone that sounds faint to you may not be faint to them. Treat it like any other sound:

  • Start with the volume low and raise it only if you need to.
  • Use short bursts rather than holding the tone on.
  • Don't hold the phone close to your dog's head.
  • If your dog backs away, flattens its ears or seems uncomfortable, stop.

It's a signal, not a correction. It should never be used to startle or punish a dog.

How high does the whistle go? Is it ultrasonic?

The slider goes from 1 kHz to 22 kHz, and we'll tell you plainly that the top of that range is more of a spec sheet than a tool.

An iPhone speaker is built for speech and music. It produces very little above about 16 kHz, whatever number any app puts on the screen. That's why our slider changes colour instead of just showing you a big number.

We don't claim this app produces true ultrasonic output, because a phone can't.

What's free and what do I pay for?

Every sound tool is free, for good: the clicker and all its sounds, the whistle with the full frequency range, the squeakers, and the home screen widgets. No adverts anywhere.

The only paid part is the 14-day training programme, and the first three days of that are free too.

The subscription is £/$29.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or £/$4.99 a week.

Can I add the clicker to my home screen?

Yes. Press and hold an empty part of your home screen until the icons wiggle, tap the + at the top, search for Dog Clicker, and add either the Clicker or the Whistle widget. Tapping it opens the app straight on that tool.

Widgets can't make a sound by themselves — that's an iPhone limitation, not ours — so the widget is a shortcut rather than a button.

How do I change the app's language?

Open Settings inside the app and tap Language. The app is fully translated into 16 languages and changes over straight away, without restarting.

Does it work on iPad or Apple Watch?

Not yet. It's built for iPhone. It will install and run on an iPad, but it's designed for a phone screen, and there's no Apple Watch app at the moment.

I've changed phone and my programme progress has gone.

Your training progress is stored on the device itself. We don't ask you to make an account and we don't keep a copy on a server, which is the same reason the app needs no sign-in and collects nothing about you — but it does mean progress doesn't follow you to a new phone.

Your subscription does follow you. Sign in on the new phone with the same Apple ID you paid with, open the training programme, tap the unlock button, and tap "Restore Purchases" at the bottom of that screen.

I paid but the programme is still locked.

Open the training programme and tap either a locked day or the unlock button. On the screen that appears, tap "Restore Purchases" at the bottom.

Make sure the phone is signed in with the same Apple ID you paid with — if you bought it on a different one, the app has no way to see it.

If it's still locked after that, email us at info@sedo-studio.com with the email address on your Apple ID and roughly when you paid, and we'll sort it out.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancelling is handled by Apple, not by us:

  1. Open the iPhone's Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the very top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap Dog Clicker & Whistle Training, then Cancel Subscription.

If you're on the free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you won't be charged. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, since Apple takes the payment. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the purchase and choose a reason.

We can't issue the refund ourselves, but if something in the app didn't work, do tell us at info@sedo-studio.com — we'd rather fix it.

Do you collect my data?

No accounts, no adverts, no tracking, and nothing that identifies you.

We collect anonymous usage figures — which screens get opened, how far people get through the programme — so we can tell what's working. It isn't linked to you and it isn't used to track you across other apps or websites. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
